Vertical Earth Gardens began more as a project than a business. In the Spring of 2009, founders Mark DeMitchell and Mike Tarzian were attempting to fit a garden on the side yard of house in North County San Diego. What resulted was much more than a typical garden. They designed a garden that not only saved space, but grew lettuce, herbs, and vegetables healthier and more efficiently than a traditional garden bed.

Imagine grabbing fresh herbs for pasta and soup, or specialty lettuce and heirloom tomatoes for a dinner salad from the side of your house! This is the healthy eating, fresh growing, and delicious food that Vertical Earth’s gardens are designed to deliver.
